DuPage County, Ill., Water, Sewer Debt Lifted to AA+

Standard & Poor’s raised its standard long-term rating on DuPage County, Ill.’s Series 2003A and 2003B waterworks and sewerage net revenue bonds to AA-plus from AA, due to the maintenance of strong debt service coverage, which the county projects it will continue to maintain with the help of a recent rate increase. The outlook is stable.

At the same time, the rating agency assigned its AA-plus standard long-term rating to the county’s $7.82 million of Series 2008A and 2008B waterworks and sewerage project net revenue first-lien and second-lien bonds.

Other rating factors are the county’s strong economy and participation in the deep and diverse Chicago metropolitan area economy, strong service area income levels, strong debt service coverage and liquidity, and ample sewer treatment capacity with minimal additional debt needs.
