CTA Gets New Chief, CFO

The Chicago Transit Authority board late last week approved the appointments of Richard Rodriguez as its new president and Karen Walker as its new treasurer and chief financial officer.

Rodriguez replaces Ron Huberman, who recently left to take over as head of the Chicago Public Schools, and Walker replaces Dennis Anosike, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Walker left the Illinois Finance Authority, where she had served as director of financial services for the last 18 months to take the CTA job. She previously worked as a public finance banker at the former A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. and Banc of America Securities LLC.

“We are pleased to have someone with such depth of financial experience join CTA,” board chairwoman Carole Brown said in a statement. “This is a particularly difficult financial time for every market sector and we look forward to working with Karen to develop solutions to stabilize CTA’s finances.”

Rodriguez previously served as commissioner of the city’s Department of Aviation. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley tapped him for the new position.
