Consumer Credit Rose $10.5 Billion in January

Consumer credit increased by $10.5 billion in January to $3.544 trillion, the Federal Reserve reported Monday.

In December, consumer credit rose a revised $6.4 billion to $3.533, first reported as a $21.3 billion increase to $3.549 trillion.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a $16.75 billion increase in the month.

Revolving credit outstanding in January edged down to $935.3 billion from $936.4 billion the previous month.

Non-revolving credit rose to $2.608 trillion from $2.597 trillion.

Revolving credit includes credit card debt. Non-revolving debt includes automobile loans, loans for mobile homes, education, boats, trailers, or vacations.
