Susan Collet is launching her own government-relations advisory firm focused on municipal securities, tax policy ,public power utilities and rural electric cooperatives, after having previously worked at Bond Dealers of America.

The firm, called H Street Capitol Strategies LLC, will help clients with direct lobbying, crafting testimony, drafting comment letters and organizing advocacy campaigns. HSCS will particularly help clients get their messages across to regulators as well as the tax, energy and financial services committees in Congress, according to a news release.

Collet worked at BDA from July 2012 to June 2014, where she was senior vice president for government relations. During her time at BDA, she helped middle-market dealers advocate for modifications to Dodd-Frank rules and was involved with  the Municipal Bonds for America coalition, a group of broker-dealer and issuers founded by BDA whose goal is to protect and promote tax-exempt municipal bonds. Prior to working at BDA, she worked at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, the American Public Power Association and the law and policy firm Van Ness Feldman.

HSCS is currently a solo-practice, and Collet said the firm will be located on Maryland Avenue NE in Washington, near the rapidly developing H Street corridor. "I think of 'H Street' as the new growth corridor in Washington, D.C. The firm name reflects the new ways that advocates can equip clients to take advantage of today's more universal access to information about Congress and regulators, cut through information overload, and leverage their existing resources to become their own best advocates," she said in the release.
