Anderson will help to develop Cantor Fitzgerald's public finance efforts and expand its municipal underwriting, sales and trading business, specifically in negotiated underwriting. Anderson previously served as senior managing director and co-head of public finance at Lebenthal.

"The municipal securities market is an important focus for us, and we are thrilled to have someone of Gregory's caliber join our team," Shawn P. Matthews, chief executive officer of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., said in a press release Thursday. "Gregory is one of the most respected and experienced professionals in the public finance sector and I am confident his strong track record combined with Cantor's leading distribution platform will help accelerate the growth of our institutional municipal business. Cantor already has a significant sales and trading footprint in the muni market and we look forward to building upon the team's success to better serve issuers and investors."

Matthews said the goal is to continue to build Cantor's muni sales and trading, in addition to their public finance business." We plan to leverage our existing sales and trading platform in order to grow our public finance business, and to maximize participation as an underwriter," he said in an email exclusively to the Bond Buyer. "With our muni sales and trading team in place, the natural progression is to expand into banking and public finance. Cantor is currently participating in the secondary market for municipal securities. We want to leverage our knowledge of both issuers and investors, to provide distribution to our issuing clients on their new issues. "

Before his tenure at Lebenthal & Co., Anderson held senior positions at Dean Witter Reynolds, Advest, Inc. and Salomon Brothers. He also has extensive expertise in a broad range of tax-exempt and taxable financings.

"I am excited to be joining Cantor and the municipal team," Anderson said in the press release. "Cantor is deeply committed to growing its public finance business and I am eager to continue their success and also deepen Cantor's capabilities and skill set in public finance."

Matthews said he expects the firm to be listed as co-manager, co-senior manager and possible as a book runner on more negotiated transactions.
