Blaylock Robert Van Opens Office in Ohio

CHICAGO -- Blaylock Robert Van LLC has opened a new office in Columbus, Ohio, staffed by William Matlock, a veteran investment banker who’s been active in the state’s municipal market for 30 years.

Matlock who joins the Oakland, Calif.-based firm as senior vice president, was most recently at Castle Oak Securities, where he was a liaison for Midwest public sector clients. Before that, Matlock was a managing director at SBK-Brooks Investment Corp.

Matlock has also worked for the state  as Deputy Director of Investments and Debt Management for the State Treasurer of Ohio and Senior Treasury Management & Investments Office for the Ohio State University. It’s his second tenure at Blaylock. He worked there from December 2009 to February 2011 in the firm’s Cleveland office, which has since been closed.

“Bill is very well known and respected throughout the Midwest and Texas, and his rejoining our firm underscores our commitment to these regions,” Eric Van Standifer, Blaylock’s president, said in a statement earlier this month. “He has extensive experience managing and structuring major bond issues, and he has a first-hand understanding of the needs and pressures facing debt issuers. Our clients will greatly benefit from Bill’s knowledge, experience and contacts.”

Blaylock will now operate two Midwest offices, in Columbus and Chicago.

The firm runs offices in Oakland and New York City, and has employees in Los Angeles, Florida, South Carolina, and Texas.

Last December the firm hired veteran public finance banker Adrienne Archia as senior vice president in its Chicago office.

Blaylock Robert Van is a full-service, minority-owned investment bank that was formed through the combination of two minority-owned firms -- Robert Van Securities and Blaylock & Co.
