Atlantic City 2015 Casino Revenue Down 6.5%

Atlantic City's casino operators lost 6.5% in revenue last year compared to 2014, according to figures New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement released Jan. 13.

Four of Atlantic City's 12 casinos were closed in 2014: the Atlantic Club, Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza.

The remaining eight casinos took in $2.56 billion in 2016 compared to $2.74 billion the previous year.

Trump Taj Mahal saw the biggest decline last year, falling 16.5% to $180.2 million. The Golden Nugget had the biggest percentage increase at 24.6% to $231.2 million.

Atlantic City's struggles come as New Jersey lawmakers are considering legislation to seek voter approval for two new casinos in North Jersey. Moody's Investors Service noted in a Jan. 13 report that revenue at Trump Taj Mahal, Bally's Park Place and Caesars and has cumulatively declined 9% the last two years.
