Public finance and commercial banking lawyer Andrew Borders has joined Kutak Rock LLP's Kansas City team.
Borders is an 11-year veteran of the public finance field. He has represented foreign and domestic credit providers in municipal, nonprofit, higher education and health care financings, including transactions that use bank facilities providing credit enhancement and liquidity support to tax-exempt securities and the direct purchase of tax-exempt securities.
“We are excited that Andrew has chosen to join Kutak Rock and offer his unique expertise to support our bank clients,” Eric Johnson, managing partner in Nebraska-based Kutak Rock’s Kansas City office, said in a statement.
"I look forward to expanding what is already a diversified and strong team of attorneys," Borders said.
Border becomes the 10th banking practice attorney for the firm in Kansas City. Of the 10 banking attorneys in the Kansas City office, five work in public finance as well. The Kansas City firm has 42 attorneys, and nationwide, Kutak Rock now has 135 attorneys in the practice.
A spokesperson with the firm said Borders will have a national focus at Kutak working with all 17 offices. He joined the firm as an attorney. Borders joined the Kansas City team from Chapman and Cutler LLP in Chicago.
Kutak Rock ranked fourth among bond counsel nationally and was third in the Midwest last year, according to Thomson Reuters. Year-to-date, the firm is ranked fourth nationally and second in the Midwest.
