SHOSHONE, Idaho -- Shoshone voters rejected a $6 million school bond Tuesday.
In total, 164 people voted for the bond while 117 voted against it. That's 58.4 percent support -- not enough to clear the required two-thirds supermajority.
The measure would have paid for a school remodeling project, new multipurpose building and new spaces for vocational and alternative school classes.
"It just seems like the majority of the voters wanted us to do the project, so that's a positive," Shoshone School District superintendent Rob Waite said Tuesday night. "But if these totals stand, it's not enough to get the go-ahead."
Waite said he and other school administrators will analyze results over the next few days and decide what to do next.
Shoshone was the only south-central Idaho school district with a ballot measure for this election.
The $6 million measure would have paid for a new multipurpose building -- including a stage and gymnasium -- plus a new vocational building and a small building with a couple of alternative school classrooms. It was also set to pay for remodeling to the existing school.
