Trottenberg, Zuckerman Join MTA Board

New York City Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg and Neal Zuckerman of the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council will join the board of New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the MTA announced after the state Senate confirmed them.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo had nominated both. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio recommended Trottenberg, while the Metro-North council recommended Zuckerman.

Trottenberg will succeed former New York City Budget Director Mark Page and Zuckerman will take the non-voting seat formerly occupied by the Metro-North council's Jim Blair.

The Senate also reconfirmed current board members Andrew Albert and Ira Greenberg, the MTA said in its June 20 announcement.

Trottenberg had 22 years of government experience before joining de Blasio's administration on Jan. 27. They include more than four years at the U.S. Department of Transportation, most recently as the undersecretary of transportation for policy, where she developed key initiatives for the Obama administration, including the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER, discretionary grant program.

Zuckerman is a partner and managing director in the New York office of the Boston Consulting Group, which has 81 offices in 45 countries. Previously, he worked at Time Warner and McKinsey & Co. He lives in Garrison, N.Y.
