Nixon Peabody LLP has named Barry Rothchild a public finance partner. He will work out of the firm's New York office.

Rothchild leads Nixon Peabody's derivatives team and provides transactional and regulatory advice to municipal entities, corporations and financial institutions. He joined the firm in February 2005.

He is also bond counsel for public power clients, and counsels nonprofit borrowers, underwriters and liquidity-credit providers.

"Federal regulations on swap transactions became increasingly complex with the passage and implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act," said Rothchild. "As the rules implementing the Dodd-Frank Act are put in place, it is a priority to keep clients informed about implications for them."

Rothchild is among 12 the firm promoted to partner on Feb. 17.

He earned degrees at the State University of New York at Albany and the Fordham University School of Law.
