Kocherlakota: 2015 Not Appropriate for Liftoff

The Federal Reserve should not raise interest rates this year, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Narayana Kocherlakota repeated Friday.

Speaking on CNBC, he repeated his view that it will take years for inflation to reach the Fed's 2% target, and further stimulus rather than a rate hike is in order. "I don't see a near-term increase in interest rates as being appropriate, and by near-term I mean really through the course of 2015."
