Finance Chief Doerflinger

Preston Doerflinger has been named director of the Office of State Finance by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin. Doerflinger will serve in Fallin’s cabinet as secretary of finance.

Doerflinger currently serves as city auditor in Tulsa. He was elected to the post in 2009.

As director of the OSF, Doerflinger will help prepare the governor’s executive budget and oversee implementation of Fallin’s fiscal policies.

Doerflinger will earn $108,000 a year in the state post.

The appointment must be confirmed by the Senate, which will convene next week.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said he would form a search committee to find a successor for Doerflinger.

Because there is less than a year left in the unexpired term, Barlett can appoint an interim auditor to serve until a new one is elected in November 2011.
