The Minneapolis City Council last week approved up to $16.5 million of recovery zone facility bonds toward the American Academy of Neurology’s plans to build a new global headquarters, according to a news release from the city’s Community Planning and Economic Development Department.
The five-story, 62,000-square-feet building will be located in the city’s Mill District. The council also agreed to sell the land that will house the facility to the academy for $661,000.
“Thanks to the federal recovery act, we were able to issue the bonds that helped us fill this parcel with a great new addition to the Mill District — all at no cost to the city,” said Mayor R.T. Rybak. “The American Academy of Neurology adds new energy to the riverfront.”
