The University of Michigan’s final April consumer sentiment index reading was 73.3, compared to the final April 72.2, according to market sources.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 73.5 reading for the index.
The expectations index was 68.3, compared to 66.5 in April. The current conditions index was 81.1, compared to 81.0 in April.
Economists predicted an 82.0 reading for the current conditions index and 66.8 for the expectations index.
