Fiscal-Impact Bill Floated

A state representative has introduced a bill that would require Michigan to detail the financial impact of all proposed new laws on local government and state revenues.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Gail Haines, R-Lake Angelus, would also require the state to identify funding sources for legislation.

“It’s very short and it’s plain and simple,” Haines was quoted as saying in the Oakland Press. “It has bipartisan support. I have run it by [Senate Majority Leader Mike] Bishop, who is very supportive.”
