Voters around the state approved numerous school levies when they went to the polls this week for the first time since passing a measure that dropped the requirement from a 60% approval rate to a simple majority.
In southwest Washington, for instance, the Castle Rock School District saw its $1.9 million tax levy pass with 55%. Meanwhile, the lower approval requirement also led to approvals in the Quincy, Brewster, Soap Lake, and Waterville school districts, to the delight of administrators.
