Municipal bond funds saw inflows in the latest week, according to the Lipper.

Over 100 local state-side government officials signed a letter calling for Puerto Rico to be allowed to declare bankruptcy.

The Internal Revenue Service claims that some of the bonds issued in 2013 by the Scottsdale, Ariz., Municipal Property Corp. to refinance the term of a lease for a garage are taxable.

In the week ended August 13, the weekly average yield to maturity of the Bond Buyer Municipal Bond Index fell by two basis points to 4.37% from 4.39% in the previous week. The BB40 Index is based on the price of 40 long-term bonds.

The University of North Texas has received a clean audit after paying back $4.7 million of state funds that were improperly used for the university’s operations, according to a disclosure notice. The audit clears the way for UNT to return to the bond market.
