Women in Public Finance extends award nominations

LOS ANGELES — Women in Public Finance have extended the deadline on nominations for their founders award to be presented at the 21st Annual Women in Public Finance Conference Oct. 26 in Los Angeles.

The event is being held for the first time in Southern California. It will be at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown. Mary Schapiro, the first woman to serve as Securities and Exchange Commission chair, is scheduled to keynote.

Nominations are now due by July 19. The categories are:

• WPF "Lifetime Achievement" Award - given to the woman involved in the public finance field for 10 years or more who has consistently demonstrated skill, drive, integrity and vision.

• WPF "She's Our Hero" Award - given to the woman who manages career, self-development, family issues and civil involvement - all at the same time.

• WPF "Rising Star" Award - given to the woman involved in the public finance field for 10 years or less whose work demonstrates skill and intelligence for long-term impact in field.
