Wells Fargo Brings in Another Ex-UBS Banker

DALLAS - Continuing its expansion in Texas public finance, Wells Fargo & Co. added another investment banker formerly with UBS Securities LLC to its San Antonio office.

George Pedraza was named senior vice president and will focus on debt issued by Lone Star state schools.

"This is a great opportunity to continue progress toward our goal to double our public finance business by 2010," said Bill Gabler, head of the banks' public finance division, which is a unit of Wells Fargo Institutional Brokerage & Sales.

In July, the financial services company named Craig Brast managing director to lead a team based in Houston specializing in Texas school finance based.

Also hired then were Sonny Donaldson, Michael Bradbury, and John Young. They are based in Houston with Brast, while Larry Groppel is based in Dallas. All four worked with UBS before accepting the new posts at Wells Fargo.

Pedraza also had been with UBS Securities and is a former San Antonio city manager.
