State Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, introduced a bill Wednesday that would bring in a mediator to resolve disagreement over the city's Evergreen Point 520 bridge.
Replacing the floating structure connecting Seattle with the northeastern suburbs would cost at least $2.79 billion for a four-lane version, and more than $4.38 billion for six lanes.
"Everyone agrees it's time to fix the 520 bridge," Murray said in a statement. "But it's also time for the neighborhoods to come together about how best to handle building a replacement. We can work through this, and I want to offer a path toward a constructive solution rather than risk the kind of conflict we see elsewhere in Seattle."
The 520 bridge project will be addressed as part of a bond package that will appear on the November ballot.
