Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it raised its underlying rating to A from A-minus on Trinidad Independent School District, Texas' existing general obligation debt.
The outlook is stable.
"The raised rating reflects our view of the district's efforts to build its available general fund balance to levels that we consider very strong," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Sarah Smaardyk. "The rating further reflects our view of the district's limited additional capital needs and rapid debt amortization."
Trinidad ISD is approximately 75 miles southeast of Dallas, in Henderson County, and serves a population of 650. Agriculture, manufacturing, and oil production drive the district's relatively limited local economy, so many residents commute to Corsicana.
