Treasury Strips Rise $870M in April

Newly issued Treasury securities held in stripped form increased about $870 million in April to a total of $207.894 billion, the Bureau of the Public Debt reported Tuesday.

Through the Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal of Securities program, STRIPS, about $17.972 billion of Treasury securities were reconstituted in April, down about $1.362 billion from $19.334 billion in March.

Securities eligible for stripping totaled $10.486 trillion in April up about $59 billion from $10.427 trillion in March.

Some $10.279 trillion were held in unstripped form.

The STRIPS program allows investors to hold and trade the individual interest and principal components of eligible Treasury notes and bonds as separate securities.
