Newly issued Treasury securities held in stripped form increased about $3.319 billion in October to a total of $215.143 billion, the Bureau of the Public Debt reported Thursday.
Through the Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal of Securities program, STRIPS, about $16.563 billion of Treasury securities were reconstituted in October, up about $4.740 billion from $11.823 billion in September.
Securities eligible for stripping totaled $11.160 trillion in October down about $36 billion from $11.196 trillion in September.
Some $10.945 trillion were held in unstripped form.
The STRIPS program allows investors to hold and trade the individual interest and principal components of eligible Treasury notes and bonds as separate securities.
