Treasury Strips Rise $1.091B in July

Newly issued Treasury securities held in stripped form increased about $1.091 billion in July to a total of $216.643 billion, the Bureau of the Public Debt reported Tuesday.

Through the Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal of Securities program, STRIPS, about $16.667 billion of Treasury securities were reconstituted in July, up about $6.107 billion from $10.560 billion in May.

Securities eligible for stripping totaled $11.100 trillion in July up about $42 billion from $11.058 trillion in May.

Some $10.883 trillion were held in unstripped form.

The STRIPS program allows investors to hold and trade the individual interest and principal components of eligible Treasury notes and bonds as separate securities.
