Robert Thompson, manager for long-range bus service planning at New York City Transit, and Joan Nyron, policy director at the Pratt Center for Community Development, will speak at the New York Transit Museum at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10.
The museum, in downtown Brooklyn, is hosting a discussion on plans for bus rapid transit expansion in New York City's outer boroughs. The museum and the Streetsblog website are sponsoring the free event.
Design and implementation of new routes will be up for discussion.
Changing outer-borough demographics were a major talking point during July meetings of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's transportation reinvention commission, which Gov. Andrew Cuomo formed. New York City Transit is an MTA unit.
