The Treasury will auction $26 billion of 92-day bills and $27 billion of 182-day discount bills. The 92-day bills are dated Oct. 2 and are due Jan. 2, 2009, and the 182-day bills are dated Oct. 2 and due April 2, 2009.
Personal income and spending figures for August are released by the Commerce Department.

Tuesday, September 30
Consumer confidence figures for September are released by the Conference Board.

Wednesday, October 1
Construction spending figures for August are released by the Commerce Department.

Thursday, October 2
Initial jobless claims for the week ending Sept. 27 are released by the Labor Department.
Factory order, shipment, and inventory figures for August are released by the Commerce Department.

Friday, October 3
The employment report for September is released by the Labor Department.
