Julia Teska will replace Mohlenkamp, who is retiring after nearly three decades in state government service, according to a news release.

Teska is a deputy superintendent at the Nevada Department of Education and has more than 20 years of government finance experience at the state and local levels.

"Julia has an intimate knowledge of the state budget and brings with her a wealth of experience in government finance," Sandoval said in a prepared statement. "Her extensive work in education and health and human services will be of great value to the state of Nevada."

The governor's office is already gathering input from state agencies as it begins work on a two-year budget proposal that will be presented to the 2015 Legislature.

Prior to her current position, Teska spent ten years in school district financial administration and six years in the State Budget Division working with the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

"I am honored and humbled to be given the chance to continue to serve the citizens of Nevada in this new role," Teska said. "The Governor's priorities of improving education and mental health services for our citizens have long been priorities in my career."

Mohlenkamp has served as director of administration, the administration's top financial slot, since July 2011.

"I believe we have accomplished many outstanding things and the state is clearly on a strong path," Mohlenkamp said.
