The District of Columbia and 37 states saw unemployment rates rise in November, while five states improved and eight were steady, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

For the year, as the national unemployment rate rose 2.0%, unemployment rates were up in 49 states and the District of Columbia and unchanged in one state, West Virginia. The national jobless rate is now 6.7%.
