San Juan Regional Medical Center, N.M., Outlook Revised to Stable

NEW YORK - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it revised its outlook to stable from positive and affirmed its A-minus issuer credit rating (ICR) on San Juan Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), N.M.

"The return to a stable outlook reflects our view of SJRMC's weaker operating performance in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011 and through the first quarter of fiscal 2012. Other rating concerns continue to be the relative isolation and rural nature of SJRMC's business position and a decline in surgical volumes," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Geraldine Poon. "A positive rating action is possible in the next year or two if the center's operating margins return to historical levels and sound cash flow results in balance sheet improvement," Poon added.
