BRADENTON, Fla. – Raymond James has hired 25-year investment banking veteran Reuben McDaniel as a managing director.

McDaniel, former president of Atlanta-based Jackson Securities LLC, primarily will support the general government practice at Raymond James in New York.

His work will focus on large metropolitan issuers across the country, the firm said.

"Reuben is a well-respected and longtime industry professional whose addition reflects our firm's ongoing commitment to growing our public finance franchise, as well as our municipal platform as a whole," said senior managing director Kemp Lewis, head of the company's Northeast practice.

McDaniel most recently worked at RM Capital Management, a wealth management firm in Atlanta that he founded and managed as chief executive officer for four years.

From January 2010 until January 2014, he was the elected chairman of the Atlanta Public Schools Board, and oversaw the panel during the challenging years after a massive cheating scandal was uncovered.

At Jackson Securities, founded by former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, McDaniel was chief executive officer from May 1999 until August 2010. Jackson Securities was closed in 2013 by parent company Atlanta Life Financial Group.

McDaniel received undergraduate degrees in economics and mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received a master of business administration from the University of Texas.

"Reuben's knowledge and experience delivering creative financing solutions to issuer clients is a natural fit with our public finance practice, and our ongoing plans for growth," said executive vice president Rob Baird, head of public finance/debt investment banking.

Raymond James ranked ninth nationally as senior manager on 650 bond issues with par value of $13.47 billion, according to Thomson Reuters.

St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Raymond James has more than 180 professionals in 24 locations nationwide providing services to municipal issuers.
