Puerto Rico's employment increased for a fifth consecutive month, rising by 0.1% in November from October.
The commonwealth's number of employed is now 2.4% above the lowest point it has been in the last 10 years, reached in September 2014, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Total employment has been up from a year earlier for 11 of the last 12 months.
The unemployment rate increased to 12.5% in November from 12.4% in October. The rate fell from 13.8% in November last year.
These statistics are from the bureau's household survey. It also releases data from a survey of the commonwealth's employers. This showed that employment was up 0.1% from a month earlier and 1.6% from a year earlier.
The employer survey showed that private sector employment was up 0.3% since October, 0.6% since November 2014, and 3.8% since its low point in the last 10 years in March 2010.
