Preliminary November U. of Mich. Index at 89.4 vs. 86.9 in October

The University of Michigan's preliminary November consumer sentiment index reading was 89.4, compared to the final October 86.9 and the preliminary October 86.4, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 80.6, compared to the final October 79.6 and the preliminary October 78.4.

The current conditions index was 103.0, compared to the final October 98.3 and the preliminary October 98.9.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 87.5 reading for the main index, 98.8 for current conditions, and 80.2 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.8% in October, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.9% in October.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
