Philly Analysts Hosting Puerto Rico Oversight Board Member

A member of Puerto Rico’s federal oversight board will give an update on the distressed island’s efforts to combat mounting debt during the May 3 Philadelphia Area Municipal Analysts Society meeting.

David Skeel, who was among seven financial experts tapped last year to supervise Puerto Rico’s fiscal affairs, will speak at the forum on the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act as well as the need for U.S. states to access bankruptcy. Skeel is a University of Pennsylvania law professor and a leading expert on bankruptcy.

“The progress PROMESA is making is a key topic on the minds of many people who follow Puerto Rico and the municipal bond market,” said PhAMAS president Tom Kozlik, who is also a managing director and municipal strategist at PNC Capital Markets. “PhAMAS members and guests will benefit from David's update and insights.”

The May 3 event with Skeel is slated from 4 to 6 p.m. at PFM Financial Advisors on 1735 Market Street, 42nd Floor, in Philadelphia. Registration is $20 for PhAMAS members and $75 for non-members.
