Philadelphia Fed Non-Mfg Regional Index Drops to 41.0 in April

The region's non-manufacturing sector slumped in April, as the general business conditions index dropped to 41.0 from 48.8 in March, this month's Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Report on Business indicates.

At the company level, the general business activity index slipped to 43.6 from 44.2.

The prices paid index was 17.9, down from 23.3 last month, new orders index rose to 35.9 from 30.2, sales or revenues increased to 38.5 from 34.9, the unfilled orders index rose to 5.1 from zero, the inventories index surged to 12.8 from 4.7, prices received climbed to 5.1 from 2.3, the number of full time employees index gained to 23.1 from 20.9, the number of part time employees index slid to 23.1 from 25.6, and the average employee workweek dipped to 23.1 from 23.3.

The six months from now regional general business conditions index rose to 82.1 from 79.1 in last month's survey, while the company general business conditions index increased to 74.4 from 72.1.
