The region's non-manufacturing sector "continued to expand," as the general business conditions index grew to 35.4 in March from 29.3 in February, this month's Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Report on Business, released Tuesday, indicates.

At the company level, the general business activity index slid to 32.5 from 38.0.

The prices paid index was 18.0, up from 15.3 last month, new orders index declined to 22.6 from 25.3, sales or revenues dell to 20.3 from 32.5, the unfilled orders index rebounded to positive 3.0 from negative 0.4, the inventories index slipped to 4.6 from 5.7, prices received slumped to negative 4.7 from negative 1.3, the number of full time employees index increased to 17.2 from 12.4, and the average employee workweek rose to 18.9 from 12.6.

The six months from now regional general business conditions index climbed to 52.6 from 48.4, while the company general business conditions index fell to 53.8 from 57.5.
