Park Bonds for Hays MUDs

The Texas Legislature is considering a constitutional amendment that would allow municipal utility districts in Hays County to issue bonds for recreational facilities.

Supporters said bonding would help  keep up with the demand for parks in the fast-growing county between Austin and San Antonio.

If the measures proposed by Rep. Patrick Rose were approved by the Legislature, the proposed constitutional amendment would be on the statewide ballot in November 2010.

State voters in 2006 approved a constitutional amendment allowing park bonds to be issued by MUDs in Bastrop, Bexar, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris, Galveston, Travis Waller, and Williamson counties. The proposed amendment would add Hays County to the list.
