Orrick's weight in public finance underscored by partner promotions

LOS ANGELES — Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe continues its growth in public finance promoting Patricia Eichar to partner.

The law firm has promoted seven lawyers to partner in its public finance practice over the past five years and has more than 80 lawyers in the group, according to Adi Weisman, a spokesperson.

Eichar, who is based in Portland and Sacramento, was one of 19 attorneys Orrick announced it had promoted to partner across all lines of the law firm’s business.

Eichar has worked on billions of dollars in fixed and variable-rate general obligation debt as bond counsel for the State of California.

The law firm was ranked no. 1 as bond counsel in California with par amount of $32.2 million in 2017, according to Thomson Reuters data.

Eichar’s practice focuses on municipal financings for land-secured deals, public infrastructure, 501(c)(3) nonprofits and enterprise funds for a variety of local government and nonprofit issuers and borrowers.

Eichar earned her J.D., with great distinction, Order of the Coif, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. She volunteers with the National Veterans Legal Services Program.

The 2018 partner class reflects the firm’s global focus on serving the technology, energy & infrastructure and finance sectors, according to the statement.

The promotions elevated six people who focus on technology, one on energy and infrastructure, five who specialize in finance and seven litigators. The new partners are based in seven U.S. offices, and more than a quarter are outside the U.S. in Düsseldorf, London, Milan, Paris and Tokyo.
