Obituary

William Harvey Mell Jr., a long-time industry veteran who founded W.H. Mell Associates Inc. in 1971, passed away Dec. 1. He was 71.

Mr. Mell served as chairman of the board of W.H. Mell until his death. Prior to that, the 1958 Yale University graduate headed the fixed-income department at Dillon, Read & Co., where he became a partner under Nicholas F. Brady.

Outside of the bond universe, Mr. Mell also had a number of other business interests. Between 1994 and 2005, he owned and operated the Sandpiper Inn of Spring Lake, N.J., with his wife Rosemary DeCicco Mell, who survives him.

Mr. Mell had a passion for sports including tennis, golf, and hockey. He resided in Estero, Fla., at the time of his death.

Besides his wife, Mell is also survived by his three sons, William, Courtney, and Bradley; four stepchildren, Michael, Andrew, Mark, and Lisa; four grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church in New Vernon, N.J.
