New York CBC Honors Fiscal Team

The Citizens Budget Commission in New York City honored Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s economic team at its annual dinner Thursday night.

Bloomberg, serving the last of his three terms, touted the city’s financial strength. “We have our best bond rating since Fiorello LaGuardia was mayor,” he said at The Pierre hotel.

Moody’s Investors Service rates the bonds Aa2, while Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor’s rate them AA.

The commission awarded medals for high civic service to five current or former deputy mayors or budget directors. They are Daniel Doctoroff, chief executive and president of Bloomberg LP; Robert Lieber, executive managing director of Island Capital Group; Mark Page, director of the city’s office of management and budget; Marc Shaw, senior vice chancellor for budget, finance and fiscal policy for City University of New York; and Robert Steel, deputy mayor for economic development.
