New Orleans Upgraded to A-Plus by S&P

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it raised its long-term rating and underlying rating to A-plus from A-minus on New Orleans' existing general obligation debt.

The outlook is stable.

At the same time, it assigned an A-plus long-term rating to the city's series 2015 GO refunding bonds.

"The rating action is based on our view of the city's recent and projected improvement in both its budgetary performance and budgetary flexibility," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Brian Marshall.
