Taxable sales in April were up a sizable 14.2% over the same month in 2003, Nevada officials announced Friday.
The fast-growing state saw major gains in wholesale trade and durable goods, up 31.7%, and home furniture, up 22.4%. It was the first month since May 1988 that every county in the state recorded increased growth in taxable sales, the Department of Taxation recorded.
"Ten straight months of sales tax growth demonstrate the strength of Nevada's business climate; tourism is back on track and our state continues to attract new businesses at a record pace," Gov. Kenny Guinn said in a statement released with the revenue statistics.
"We can begin to rebuild the rainy-day fund that was depleted during the last legislative session," he said.
