NABL to Consider Nominees During Annual Workshop

A National Association of Bond Lawyers committee has nominated five individuals for NABL members to consider electing as officers and directors of the board at a meeting during their Bond Attorneys Workshop in Chicago next month.

A five-member committee nominated for election as officers: Kathleen Crum McKinney, a shareholder at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd PA in Greenville, S.C., as president-elect, John M. McNally, a partner at Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP here, as treasurer, and Kristin H.R. Franceschi, a partner at DLA Piper US LLP in Baltimore, as secretary.

The nominees for directors of the board are: Brenda S. Horn, a partner at Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis for a term ending in 2011, Michael L. Spain, a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in San Antonio for a term ending in 2011, and Scott R. Lilienthal, a partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP here for a term ending in 2010.

Members are permitted to nominate others for an executive office or as a director of the board but must submit their written intention to do so to the president and executive director at least 14 days before the annual meeting in mid-September.

The election will come as William A. Holby, a partner at King & Spalding LLP in Atlanta, becomes NABL's new president, replacing J. Foster Clark, a partner at Balch & Bingham LLP in Birmingham. Holby has served as president-elect since the last week of September in 2007. NABL elects its president-elects and then they automatically succeed to the office of president at the end of the year.

Clark will become immediate-past president and will remain a NABL director for the coming year.

Other individuals that will continue to serve as directors of the board are: Charles P. Shimer, a partner at Troutman Sanders LLP in Richmond; Jeffrey C. Nave, a partner at Foster Pepper PLLC in Spokane, Wash.; and Lauren K. Mack, an attorney at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP in San Francisco.

Members of the nominating committee are: Clark; Carol L. Lew, a shareholder at Stradling Yocca Carlson Rauth in Newport Beach, Calif.; Virginia D. Benjamin, a partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP in Cleveland; Kimberly C. Betterton, a partner at McKennon Shelton & Henn LLP in Baltimore; and John O. Swendseid, a member of Sherman & Howard in Reno, Nev.
