Milwaukee ISM Index Gains to 65.6 in October

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business rose to 65.6 in October from 63.2 in September, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Friday.

New orders received rose to 83.9 from 75.0, production jumped to 78.8 from 68.2, employment decreased to 45.8 from 56.8, supplier deliveries gained to 66.7 from 61.4, and backlog of orders grew to 61.8 from 59.1.

Inventory levels slid to 52.9 from 54.6, customers' inventories slipped to 37.5 from 40.0, prices fell to 55.9 from 65.9, exports declined to 57.1 from 60.0 and imports dropped to 50.0 from 61.8.

The blue collar diffusion index slumped to 48.8 from 56.2, while the white collar diffusion index also dropped to 48.8 from 54.0.
