Milwaukee Index Gains to 66 in July From 59 in June

NEW YORK – The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Index climbed to 66 in July from 59 in June, according to the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee.

New orders received remained at 69, production rose to 69 from 67, backlog decreased to 58 from 63, and supplier lead times inched up to 29 from 28.

Blue collar employment gained to 65 from 62, while white collar employment held at 56. Inventory levels jumped to 66 from 63, while capital equipment purchases decreased to 51 from 62.

The prices paid index rose to 55 from 54, with 11 categories rising in price and five falling, while five were steady. Fifteen of the 21 are above 50, while 4 are under 50 and two are at 50.
