A group of six former Samuel A. Ramirez & Co. professionals have joined MFR Securities Inc.'s public finance division, MFR announced yesterday.
Long-time municipal market veterans Tom Mead and Carlos Desmaras will be managing directors of MFR's public finance division, which will be based out of New York. Mead was formerly a managing director at Samuel A. Ramirez and Salomon Brothers, and Desmaras was a senior vice president at Ramirez.
Wilfredo Gort will join as a senior vice president and open MFR's first public finance office in Florida. Gort is a former president of AIBC Securities in Miami and also a former city commissioner of Miami.
Former Ramirez vice presidents Dominick Setari, Itay Feldman, and Jose Yandun are also joining MFR as vice presidents. They will all work out of the firm's New York office.
MFR Securities is a subsidiary of Maria Fiorini Ramirez Inc., an independent global economic and financial consulting and research firm.
"The current economic climate has created an unprecedented opportunity for us to serve the public finance market with a team of respected professionals who collectively have decades worth of relevant market experience," said Maria Fiorini Ramirez, chief executive officer of the parent company.
