Michael McGirr and Erin McCafferty will join the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management private equity team effective April 7.
"Each brings with them a strong understanding of private equity markets," Michael Trotsky, PRIM's executive director and chief investment officer, said in a statement.
McGirr arrives from Bain Capital in Boston, where he was an investment manager in partner investments since 2011. Previously, he was a portfolio manager of a $9 billion alternative investments portfolio for the Minnesota State Board of Investment.
A Cambridge, Mass., native, McGirr pitched in the Oakland Athletics minor-league system in 2003 and 2004.
McCafferty was a vice president at Bank of America Capital Advisors in Boston, where she managed all aspects of a $4 billion portfolio of buyout, venture capital, and real estate private equity funds.
She also worked at Silicon Valley Bank as a senior associate in private equity services and at Citigroup as an analyst in institutional equity training.
