The Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management board hired Andre Clapp as senior investment officer for public markets, executive director Michael Trotsky announced.
Clapp will begin June 2 at PRIM, a $58 billion pension fund for public employees. He will report to Sarah Samuels, a senior investment officer and director of public markets and investment research.
He arrives from GMO LLC, where he was a portfolio manager in the international active division and solely responsible for more than $700 million of equities. Prior to his career in finance, he was a staff scientist at Radiation Monitoring Devices Inc. of Watertown, Mass., and then a post-doctoral researcher at California Institute of Technology.
Clapp, who lives in Lincoln, Mass., holds a bachelor's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and master's and doctorate degrees, all in physics, from the University of California at Berkeley.
