Lorrie DuPont Joins RBC's Higher Education Team

Lorrie DuPont, a former managing director at William Blair & Co., will join RBC Capital Markets' municipal finance department.

DuPont will be based in the firm's Chicago office and will coordinate the group's higher education finance business, reporting to Jim Tricolli, head of RBC Municipal Finance's east region.

"Lorrie's arrival marks a major step in RBC's commitment to build a top-tier higher education business," Tricolli said in a company statement Thursday. "She will work closely with our existing higher education team across the platform to deliver creative financing solutions to a broad range of higher education issuers across the country."

RBC ranked second among senior managers for the higher education sector in 2012, according to data from Thomson Reuters. The unit of Toronto-based Royal Bank of Canada ranked first in overall education in 2012 as manager to $10.1 billion in par amount across 318 issues. RBC climbed to No. 5 among the top underwriters this year, taking 5.8% of the market, or $13.8 billion in par, in 468 issues.

DuPont has more than 25 years of experience with higher education clients, academic medical centers, non-profit and cultural organizations, RBC said. At William Blair, DuPont led a team that served the finance needs of higher education, cultural organizations and other non-profit institution clients.

Before her work at William Blair, DuPont held positions in the higher education groups of JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, UBS and Smith Barney, where she began her career.

"I am pleased to join the RBC Capital Markets platform with its strong history of a commitment to municipal clients, its highly rated credit products and its first-rate execution," DuPont said in RBC's announcement.
