Joseph C. Taylor, who started a long career in finance as an analyst of municipal credits, died in peace on Sept. 5, after a battle with leukemia. A celebration of his life was held at his home in Cambridge, Mass.
Mr. Taylor was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 7, 1949. He graduated from Princeton University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1978. Joe started at Moody's Investors Service in 1979 as an analyst of municipal and sovereign credits and took on similar responsibilities at Smith, Barney, Harris, Upham & Co.. He then worked at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, specializing in foreign bank and sovereign credit analysis before moving to Loomis Sayles & Co. in 2000 as a specialist in Asian sovereign debt. He was well respected throughout the industry and was widely published. He was a man of diverse talents and interests. In addition to writing poetry and short stories, he was also interested in watercolor painting, photography, wood-block printing and many other subjects and served on the Board of Directors of the Cantata Singers of Boston.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his mother, two sons, Alejandro and Adriano, his daughter-in-law, Baylee, and three grandchildren and other relatives.
